Everything comes back!

I think it’s true what they say. Everything comes back if you wait long enough. I used to make fun of my mom for wearing a swimsuit with a skirt attached. I grew up swimming at a local college where they required you to wear their swimsuits. Suits that had a big flap across the front, which for lack of a better word, I called a skirt.

Over the past several years, I’ve been curiously watching swim skirts re-emerge. This is a bandwagon I just might jump on. They’re practical, and cover more. Let’s face it, this isn’t the body I had at 20. I am now a creature of practicality and comfort. So I’m keeping my eyes out for swim skirts. I’ve seen some cute ones that coordinate with a suit. But I may just pick up a plain versatile one, to hold me over until I find something I love.

Another swimming possibility?

I’ve been hearing about Modbe for a while now, but haven’t tried them out yet. Their new line of 2008 swimwear is out. Again they are not tall-sized, but their tankinis are longer in the torso than most. And they have a few suits that are really cute.

I have heard in the past that Modbe is a pain to order from, that you had to find a representative in your area. It appears that you can now order online though. If anyone has ordered from them online & has any feedback, please let me know!

The swimsuit search is on.

Ten years and a couple kids ago, shopping for a swimsuit was much easier. My younger tighter body was able to get away with grabbing the first cute print I saw on the swimsuit rack. Boy have times changed. I still like two piece suits. They just feel more comfortable on my long body. But because of the new addition (the “mom squish”), if tankini tops aren’t long enough, they give me what I lovingly refer to as a jelly roll. Like I need something that accentuates that.

I now look for suits that are a bit more supportive. And tops with a ‘long torso’ option are a must! Lands End is known for great quality, and backing up their products if something wears out quickly or doesn’t live up to your expectations. They are not the cheapest, and don’t have a lot of trendy suits. But they are made well, are comfortable, and last for years.
