Is it a scam?

Frequent online shoppers, you’ll want to read this one! I’ve had a few people ask me about these cash back shopping sites that are popping up. I know there are a lot out there and I can’t vouch for them all. But the two I am most familiar with and use regularly are Shop at Home and Cashbaq. These are sites that set up affiliate accounts with most major retailers. It is a brilliant business model, and completely legitimate.

So how does it work? Basically, these sites have deals with a bunch of stores that pay them a percentage of what you spend when they refer you. They turn around and share a portion of their earnings with you. (Everything is tracked online. Just make sure you are logged in to get credit.) It is brilliant, because everyone wins. The stores get your business, cash back sites get a small percentage, and you earn a little back on the shopping you would have done anyway. You can also earn more by referring friends.

If you frequently shop online the earnings can add up quickly, so I highly recommend signing up with one of these. I have gotten in the habit of going through these sites when shopping line. I earn a little back each time, and use the checks from them to do what? Keep shopping online of course!

Long Torso Swimsuit

Well the weather is finally warming up! And you know what that means. It’s time to start thinking about swimsuit season. Yikes. This mama’s body is not quite ready, but I’m working on it.

Anyone ever tried Lands’ End for swimwear? Hooray for their long torso tankinis that cover the muffin top. The bad news is they’re not cheap. The good news is, Lands’ End is known for well made products that last a long time, and for standing behind them. I have a long torso tankini I bought there 7 or 8 years ago and it is still going strong.

Oceanfront Dress

I’ve had my eye on this dress from DownEast Basics for a while. I even saw it in my mall & tried it on. They didn’t have the right size in the color I wanted. Plus I’m still undecided.

It is not tall-sized, so of course it’s not quite as long on me as on the model. But long enough to go past that awkward mid-calf area. I work with the little kids at my church, so I’m looking for a couple longer options to keep things covered and comfortable while getting down on their level.

I do like the empire waist, which gives us tall or long-waisted girls a little leeway. Doesn’t the word leeway look weird? I’ve never written or typed it. Seriously. It looks odd.

35″ & 37″ Jeans

A while ago I heard that Vanity carries 35 and 37 inch inseams. I’ve been curious about their jeans for a while now, and just heard from a reader who has tried them.

She said, “Their sizing is all over the place, so unless you know exactly what style and size fit you, it really isn’t a good idea to order online, but they carry 35″ and 37″ inseams in store most of the time. They cater to a young crowd, so most of the jeans are the more hip-hugger, muffin-top-inducing type.”

Thanks for the tip Barbie! I’ve been curious about their jeans and wondered if they are too teeny-bopper for this mom body. They have several different fits. I may wait to try them out until I come across a Vanity store, so I don’t waste a lot on shipping while trying to find the right fit for me. I’ll keep you all posted when I try it out.
